Aircraft hire is charged per tacho hour. Instructor time is charged chock to chock. Fees and course content are subject to change.

PPL Module 1 · LFC-PPL-M1£3,090

15 flying hours up to and including first solo. Includes 3 ground-school exams and 30 circuits.

PPL Module 2 · LFC-PPL-M2£3,100

15 flying hours up to and including the qualifying cross-country. Includes 3 ground-school exams and 20 circuits.

PPL Module 3 · LFC-PPL-M3£3,075

15 flying hours up to and including a mock skills test. Includes 3 ground-school exams and 10 circuits.

LAPL Module 1 · LFC-LAPL-M1£3,150

15 flying hours up to and including first solo. Includes 5 ground-school exams and 30 circuits.

LAPL Module 2 · LFC-LAPL-M2£3,542

15 flying hours up to and including a mock skills test. Includes 4 ground-school exams and 20 circuits.

The three PPL modules cover the minimum 45-hour flying requirement and may be suitable for eligible ELCAS claims. Most students should budget for additional flying, tests, medical, equipment and external landing fees.

Choosing the licence route

LFC can discuss the UK PPL and national licence routes with you. The right route depends on the privileges you need, medical eligibility and any intention to progress to further professional training.

Flying syllabus

Training progresses from basic handling to solo flying, navigation and skills-test preparation at a pace matched to the student.

Effects of controls, straight and level, climbing, descending and turning
Slow flight, stalls, circuits, take-offs and landings
Emergency procedures and forced-landing practice
Solo consolidation, navigation and qualifying cross-country
Revision, mock skills test and test preparation

Theory and preparation

PPL training includes nine theoretical knowledge subjects and practical preparation for safe independent flying.

Air law, operational procedures and human performance
Meteorology, communications and navigation
Principles of flight, aircraft general knowledge and performance
Maps, navigation ruler, protractor, navigation computer, stopwatch and logbook are introduced as training progresses
