Course structure

The published LFC IR(R) course comprises 15 hours of dual instrument instruction and a ground examination.

  • Not less than 10 hours flown with sole reference to instruments
  • Basic instrument handling and recovery from unusual attitudes
  • Radio navigation and position fixing
  • Instrument approach procedures and partial-panel techniques
  • Instructor availability can be more limited than for general PPL training
